!Khwa ttu Celebrates 20 Years of Sharing San Spirit
On Sunday, 8 March 2026, we reached a very special milestone – 20 years since officially opening our doors! For two decades, we have been dedicated to sharing and celebrating the rich culture, language, and knowledge of the San people.
Our 20th Anniversary was a day to remember. We welcomed all visitors with free entry to our museums, giving everyone the chance to explore the exhibitions, learn about San traditions, and experience the ways of the San. From guided tours to the breathtaking landscapes of our reserve, the day reflected our ongoing commitment to empowerment, education, and the contribution San culture has to make to modern life.
Reaching this milestone is meaningful. The reality is, many NGO’s never even see their 3rd birthday. So many friends (including you, since you are reading this) have contributed to getting us here, far too many to name. So today, we tip our hats to Irène Staehelin, whose vision, generosity, persistence and human intuition created the conditions to start building a partnership of trust with the San: and the San, who, despite the lessons of history, agreed to hope, and to partner with this extraordinary woman to create the only museum in the world dedicated to San culture.
We are proud of 20 years of sharing San spirit, and we look forward, with hope, to many more.
